Russ joined our team as the Minister of Discipleship in April 2019. A native of Kentucky, he graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Prior to this role, Russ served for 27 years as pastor of three churches in Kentucky and Missouri.

Russ married his wife, Teresa, in January 1983. They have one daughter, Cori, who is married to Michael Farrar. The couple has been blessed with four grandsons: Andrew, Seth, Decker, and Reed. Russ (Papaw) and Teresa (Granny) are grateful to serve the Lord alongside their family at Crossway.

As the Minister of Discipleship, Russ is passionate about helping those who know Christ as their Savior grow in their faith so they can go share the gospel with the world. 

In his free time, Russ enjoys running, working in the yard, watching college sports, and spending time with his family, especially his grandsons.
